Computer
Technology Center
One Thousand Churches Connected is an initiative of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition
designed to bring the message of economic responsibility to families through
churches across the country. Saint Samuel Church of God in Christ is a
charter member of 1000 Churches Connected.
We recently received a generous
donation of top of the line Hewlett Packard desktop computers, printers,
software, and so much more. This generous donation from the Hewlett Packard
Foundation has launched the computer center at Saint Samuel. Our mission
is clear. "We will use computers to develop children and families
to individually and collectively excel through Technology Access, Technology
Education, and Technology Workforce Development."
- Program Goals
Participants of the program will learn more about computer technology
that improves their life prospects and also points out the potential of
the medium to offer vocational/job opportunities of genuine value, thereby
bridging the digital divide.
- Participants of the
program will develop unique combinations of technical skills and business
skills , including financial literacy by helping people understand the
information being presented on the computer.
- Participants will
know the essentials of using computers--word processors, spreadsheets,
databases, networks, and operating systems.
- Participants will
learn how to locate and connect to other centers and resources in East
Palo Alto and beyond.
